Several new plates came out of the kiln over the last month or so and I haven’t taken the time to blog about them. This one was the most different of the recent ones that I made. One of the biggest noticeable differences is that this intention plate was made with opaque pink glass on the bottom. I usually use transparent glass for the bottom layer, but I really like the way that this plate turned out, so I’ll probably be using more opaques in the future.
Since butterflies are a symbol of transformation, I used a butterfly shape cut from copper mesh in the middle for the embellishment, and a top sheet of white, pink, and red confetti glass to seal it in place. In the final plate, the butterfly appears to be emerging from fog and threads holding it back. It seems to me to be a great additional element to the Transform intention that the butterfly is having to break through barriers and obscurity. The opaque red glass in the upper right houses the Transform intention for the plate. I was planning on using the word Transformation, but it’s too long to write without taking up half the plate!
If you are interested in the purchasing this plate, it is available in the store. Please leave feedback and comments on this one, since it’s so different from the other plates I’ve been making. Thanks!
