Inspired by all of the Christmas decorations around this time of year, I’ve been hard at play making a whole herd of holiday goodies. I’ll just show off a few of the pieces here and you can find all of the rest of the holiday goodies in the store in the Holiday category of the shop. First up on the holiday goodies list is the three sets of holiday coasters on the left, and they were really fun to make. My inner child really enjoyed being called upon to help me create each of these. (Since I live in Arizona below the usual snow level, it’s unlikely I’ll be making a real snowman for Christmas, so she had a ball decorating these faux ones!) Each set of two coasters was made from a streaky blue and white glass that reminded me of Frosty the Snowman, so I tack fused snowmen onto the coasters as embellishments. There are dichroic glass scarves and hatbands on each snowman, along with carrot (orange stringer) noses, chunks of coal (black frit) for the eyes and mouth, and buttons made from millefiore canes.
Next on the holiday goodies list is a buffet trio made from sheets of glass with red stringers and aventurine green confetti. At the bottom of the photo on the right you can see a divided tray, with a separate space for a matching small bowl, which can be used for crackers and cheese, veggies and dips, or fruit and a chocolate dipping sauce. At the top of the photo is a smaller plate that could be used for slices of a holiday bread, appetizers, or slices of a dessert fruitcake. Use your imagination and you’ll find plenty of uses for this buffet set!
After that on the holiday goodies list we have a holiday serving plate featuring a decorated Christmas tree. The Kelly green tree was made from a powdered frit background and was decorated with a pre-cut star on top, ribbons of dichroic glass garland, and ornaments from millefiore. (Although my inner child was invited out to help me decorate my real tree, she enjoyed the encore performance decorating this one too.) Even if you don’t have room in your space for a big Christmas tree, you’ll enjoy the spirit of the holidays setting this beauty out on your buffet table. I just might serve cookies on it during my holiday party if no one snaps it up before Christmas!
And lastly, speaking of Christmas, I have a gift for all of the readers of this blog who have been waiting for a good excuse to buy a piece of art from me. If you use the coupon code “20Holiday14” from now until Christmas Eve, when you check out you will receive 20% off the regular price of every item in your shopping cart.
I wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and the Happiest of New Years!
