This intention plate turned out even better than I had hoped. I was going for a very ethereal looking background to go with the Spirituality intention for the plate. The photo doesn’t do the plate justice, I’m afraid, although you do get the general idea. This is one plate that you really have to see in person to appreciate.
The bottom layer of glass is an iridescent blue, which really adds shimmer to the plate when it catches the light just right. On top of that, I’ve layered a bird with a body from copper mesh and a wing from brass mesh for contrast. The top layer is a wispy light and dark blue glass I found on my recent trip to Portland. The Spirituality intention plaque of opaque blue glass is in the lower left on this particular plate.
What I didn’t expect was the halo effect around the bird this time. Since I haven’t used iridescent glass for the bottom layer before, I’m not sure whether that caused the effect or whether it was something else. However, I do think that it really adds a nice touch to the bird embellishment. The way the top layer of glass sits on top of the bird almost looks as though the bird is flying into darker clouds, since the front of the body is darker than the back.
All in all, even though it is a very clean design, I think it has a lot of character that adds to its Spirituality intention. You can find it in my Etsy store, if you are interested in bringing it into your home to support your intention for more spirit in your life. Enjoy!
